Cognac is produced in France, it is made from grapes and goes through two processes of distillation before being matured. In the Cognac region there are six vineyard growing areas where the grapes used for Cognac are grown, these areas are known as crus (Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fin Bois, Bon Bois and Bois Ordinaires). Cognac has a variety of flavours, typically it offers a balance of sweet fruitiness and subtle notes ofspice.
The original 'extra-old' cognac, initially bottled in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for exclusive distribution among family and close friends. Distinguished by its darker hue and significantly greater complexity in comparison to the VSOP, it offers alluring notes of leather and tobacco, complemented by a hint of spice—making it a splendid choice for pairing with cigars.
