Part of Aberfeldy’s Exceptional Cask Series, this limited-edition release was selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod. Distilled in 2002, the whisky spent the majority of its maturation in refill and rechar hogsheads before being transferred in 2019 to Pauillac red wine casks from Bordeaux, a region celebrated for wines of both elegance and power. Home to iconic estates such as Château Mouton-Rothschild, Château Latour, and Château Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac is known for wines with cassis, blackberry, tobacco, spice, and cedar notes.
The whisky was bottled in 2023, yielding just 804 bottles. The Pauillac cask influence enriches Aberfeldy’s trademark honeyed Highland character with layers of ripe fruit and vinous depth, creating a balance between sweetness and dark berry richness.

Royal Brackla 19 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish is part of the distillery’s Exceptional Cask Series, a range of small-batch and limited releases selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod. Royal Brackla was established in 1812 and is known as The King’s Own Whisky, having been the first single malt Scotch whisky to be granted a Royal Warrant.
Distilled on 24th June 2004, this whisky was matured initially in refill barrels and refill hogsheads before being finished in an Oloroso Sherry hogshead. The finishing process is carefully controlled to complement and elevate Royal Brackla’s signature Highland character rather than mask it. Oloroso sherry casks are known to contribute depth and richness, often associated with darker, spiced fruit notes and gentle nuttiness, while maintaining balance within the spirit.
Bottled as a limited release at natural cask strength, this expression reflects both extended maturation and precise cask management.
Tasting Notes by Royal Brackla:With the lightest touch of Oloroso Sherry finish, the nose is led with vanilla, notes of coconut and ripe honeydew melon, with a trace of cinnamon and star anise.
Dalmore Vintage 2005 spirit starts its maturation in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels for atleast 18 years and enhanced by hand-selected Matusalem Sherry and Vintage 2005 Sherry casks, with an ABV of 49.3%, natural colour, and non-chill filtered.

The 12 Year Old Aberfeldy is a delightful spirit, presenting a sweet honey touch intermingled with notes of fruit, spices, ample vanilla, and a faint wisp of smoke. An interesting aspect of its aging process is the 'Angels' Share', which refers to the portion of whisky that vanishes during its time in oak casks, with nearly one-third of the Aberfeldy 12 Year Old being lost before bottling. Introduced in 1993, the DoubleWood 12 was birthed from a method pioneered by The Balvenie's Malt Master, David Stewart, in 1982—a technique now widely recognized as 'wood finishing'.
To craft The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE begins with whisky aged for at least 12 years in traditional whisky containers, consisting of American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads. This is subsequently transitioned to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks, where it remains for an added nine months.
Following this, the whisky is shifted to large oak receptacles, known as "tuns", for a period spanning 3-4 months. This crucial step allows the distinct whiskies from separate casks to seamlessly "marry" together.
Owing its unique profile to maturation in dual wood types, The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky imbibes varied attributes at each phase. The conventional casks infuse it with a subtle, delicate character; the sherry wood imparts depth and a rich flavour palette; and the concluding stint in the tuns ensures a harmonious blend of the whiskies.
