Established in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate in Speyside, The Macallan has built its reputation on an unwavering commitment to exceptional oak cask selection. The Sherry Oak Collection represents the distillery's purest expression of that philosophy, with every single malt in the range matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks sourced from Jerez, Spain. Each cask is selected, crafted, toasted and seasoned under the supervision of The Macallan's Master of Wood before being filled to the exacting standards of the Whisky Mastery Team.
This 2023 Release has been matured for 18 years undisturbed in those sherry seasoned casks, developing its characteristic mahogany natural colour entirely without artificial intervention. The extended maturation imparts a full-bodied richness and depth that is immediately recognisable as The Macallan house style, with the oak's contribution to colour, aroma and flavour remaining the cornerstone of the whisky's identity. Bottled at 43% ABV, it is a perennial reference point for the Speyside category and a worthy centrepiece for any serious collection.

At eighteen years, the spirit has spent long enough in wood to develop genuine weight and complexity whilst retaining the fresh orchard fruit character that is distinctly Glenfiddich.

The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release marks a return to one of whisky's most celebrated cultural partnerships, reuniting The Macallan with James Bond to commemorate 55 years since the premiere of Diamonds Are Forever. The whisky was crafted by Whisky Maker Russell Greig, an avid Bond devotee who has translated the film's narrative arc directly into the cask selection, drawing on the film's locations, characters and pivotal scenes as the creative framework for this limited edition release.
The cask composition reflects the film's storyline with deliberate precision. American white oak casks represent the Las Vegas and coastal California settings that dominate the picture, while sherry seasoned oak casks pay homage to Bond's connoisseurship of Solera sherry, a moment that surfaces early in the film. A selection of red wine seasoned casks acknowledges a later scene in which Bond's forensic knowledge of wine proves critical to the plot. The cask selection is completed with bespoke hybrid sherry seasoned oak casks, custom crafted from both European and American oak staves within a single cask, an expression of the innovative spirit shared by both Bond and The Macallan. Natural colour and non-chill filtration preserve the whisky's full integrity, and the presentation packaging draws on the film's original creative archive, offering a behind the scenes glimpse into its visual development. This is an unequivocally collection-worthy release.

Founded in 1881 on the remote northern shore of Islay, Bunnahabhain sits at the end of a single-track road on the Sound of Islay, only accessible by boat until 1960. Unlike most of its island neighbours, Bunnahabhain is celebrated for its unpeated house style, producing a lighter, oilier spirit from its unusually tall, pear-shaped stills whose elongated swan necks prevent heavier flavour compounds from reaching the cut. Mineral-rich water drawn from the Margadale Spring, sea air rolling in directly off the Sound, and a commitment to non-chill filtration without added colour define every expression across the range.
Eighteen years of coastal maturation in Sherry casks transforms Bunnahabhain's naturally gentle spirit into something of genuine richness and depth. The extended time in wood draws out layers of dried fruit, honeyed nuttiness and warming spice, whilst the distillery's seafront warehouses leave their mark in the faintest whisper of sea salt that runs through the palate. Bottled at 46.3% ABV without chill-filtration, this is a classic example of what patient, sherry-led maturation achieves when the spirit beneath it is given the time and environment it deserves. A compelling addition to any collection and a well-considered gift for those who appreciate depth over showmanship.
