Description

Being the original member of Bunnahabhain's current Core Range, the Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old occupies a special place in their hearts. It was first introduced in 1979, and its longevity of nearly four decades owes much to the dedication and commitment of the distillery team, as well as the affection and support from fans and friends worldwide.

This 12 year old expression has established the standard and tone for the rest of their collection, demanding nothing but excellence. It undergoes a double maturation process in Ex Bourbon and Ex Sherry Casks, resulting in a whisky of exquisite richness and full-bodied character, striking the ideal equilibrium between Bunnahabhain's distinctive nutty and sherry notes.

Tasting Note by Bunnahabhain:
Nose: Fresh and aromatic, fruity floral with hints of dried fruit and a subtle prevalence of smoke.
Palate: Light with fruit notes, nutty flavours with a sweetness and slight hints of vanilla and caramel.
Finish: Lingering, beautifully rich and full-bodied.

Islay without the peat

A complex Islay malt without the peat and yet perfectly balanced with hints of dried fruit, nuts and a sweet honey like flavour on the palate. A long lingering finish finishes off this malt . Compares favourably with much more expensive malts.

This is a go to whisky

This is a go to whisky, the Bunny 12. The first sip will get your taste buds tingling, the smooth oily nectar, reveals raisins, plum, nuts and vanilla, as it descends a delicate peaty note lingers on the tongue. It is an outstanding whisky one of my favourites. If you like Islay and Speyside whiskies, your love this one.

Economical12yo Islay

For an economically priced 12yo Islay this is tasting way above its league - not over peated nor too obvious a cask signature and a good coast note (think if the Glengassaugh head distiller moved to Islay) so an easy going everyday Islay

A delightfully smooth whisky with lots of interesting subtle flavours - very enjoyable!

Pretty much perfect

It has everything I want in a whisky. Complex, sweetness, viscous, a little 'rancio', I do live that word 😄, and depth.

An easy drink whisky with a great flavour

Great sale price of Bunny 12, haven't had it for couple yrs , so was like 'coming home' again..easy to drink like Glenfiddich 15 solera, and other 'softer' whisky. If you're new to whisky this is a great starter , and leads you on to that very typical bunnahabhain taste. (Canasta being my current fave but that's twice the price!). Great delivery time as always, well packaged, and the mini sample is genius, please don't stop that, it sets JPHA out from the competition. My go to store now.

Lovely whiskey but

I ordered for my hubby for a Christmas present. Said it would be here in time it wasn't arrived after most disappointing.

Bunnahabhain 12

One of my basic whisky 'sherry' favourites from Islay. Not a peat monster. In fact I think no peat involved? . At the right price can't go wrong!

So when I see a good price (JPHA) I buy in quantity and stock up.

Be careful regards different batch consistency. Seems to be a problem with most distilleries since they've ramped up production.
