Founded in 1881 on the remote northern shore of Islay, Bunnahabhain sits at the end of a single-track road on the Sound of Islay, only accessible by boat until 1960. Unlike most of its island neighbours, Bunnahabhain is celebrated for its unpeated house style, producing a lighter, oilier spirit from its unusually tall, pear-shaped stills whose elongated swan necks prevent heavier flavour compounds from reaching the cut.
