Three Wood not only serves as an exceptional ingredient in classic cocktails like Auchentoshan & Ale and the Old Fashioned but also stands out as an exquisite dram on its own.
Tasting Note by Auchentoshan:
Nose: Blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin notes are present in our Three Wood.
Palate: Fruit and syrup. Hazelnut with hints of cinnamon and lemon. A butterscotch sweetness adds to the overall complexity.
Finish: A fresh and fruity, smooth whisky with long lasting oaky sweetness.
I can only describe this malt as ‘succulent’ not normally a word I would use to describe a malt, but in this case it fits!
This Malt slowly erupts on your taste buds giving you a smooth yet vibrant flavour of sweet Sherry and an after taste of Oloroso, with a hint of oak.
Its dark colour gives it a warm feel. Personally I prefer it at room temperature without either water or ice.
Superb rich, smokey flavour, nothing harsh, really smooth.
