Big Peat is a blend of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies solely from the island of Islay. Caol Ila imparts sweetness, Bowmore provides balance, Ardbeg adds a medicinal, earthy character, and Port Ellen brings a touch of elegance. This whisky embodies the essence of Islay in a bottle. It is also part of the Remarkable Regional Malts range, showcasing the best of Scotland’s Malt Whisky regions.

Tasting Note by Douglas Laing & Co:
Nose: Opens fresh, salty and clean - developing to sweet malt dried over peat.
Palate: Ashes, sweet tar, beaches and smoking chimneys.
Finish: Long and lingering finish that replicates the palate with salty, tangy liquorice, smoke, bonfire ashes and a phenolic quality.

A marvelous whisky for the price

With the cost of Islay single malts going through the roof this blended malt is a marvelous alternative for the budget conscious.
At 46% ABV with no added colour or chill filtering it tastes superb.
I try to keep a bottle of this handy for when I just want a night cap; to keep me from demolishing my more expensive single malts.
This was on offer for £26 - At that price it's a must buy.

Smokey Heaven

If you love a really smokey, peatey whiskey, then look no further. It's perfect,. Reminds me of a cool autumn evening with log fires burning. Perfection.
