Established in 1779 on the shores of Loch Indaal on Islay, Bowmore is among the oldest distilleries in Scotland, and this 40 Year Old represents the very pinnacle of what four decades of patient maturation in exceptional casks can produce.

The whisky has been matured in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon barrels and sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads, with a significant portion receiving an extended finish in first-fill Spanish oak Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a spirit of profound depth and concentration — deeply coloured, richly layered and shaped by the full weight of 40 years' cask influence, all underpinned by Bowmore's characteristic whisper of Islay peat. With just 201 bottles in existence, this is an unrepeatable collector's release of the highest distinction.
