Laphroaig 15 Year Old

Laphroaig 15 Year Old marks the return of an established age statement to the Islay distillery's permanent range, becoming its first 15 Year Old expression in over a decade. Unlike a limited anniversary release, this expression is intended to remain part of Laphroaig's core collection.

Matured for 15 years in American oak bourbon barrels, the whisky combines Laphroaig's characteristic peat smoke and maritime influence with the sweetness developed through extended oak maturation. The additional ageing brings greater integration between the distillery's smoky character and the vanilla, citrus and spice associated with American oak.

Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, Laphroaig 15 Year Old offers a different expression of the distillery's established style, balancing its familiar coastal smokiness with a more developed fruit and oak character.

Tasting Note by Laphroaig:
Nose: The aroma bursts with fresh, zesty citrus notes, reminiscent of sun-ripened orange and grapefruit, intermingled with the subtle earthiness of dried hay. A hint of BBQ smoke adds a savoury depth, while delicate undertones of vanilla and a whisper of clove contribute a warm, inviting complexity.
Taste: On the palate, a bold wave of sea salt and smoke emerges, evoking the rich flavours of oily smoked mackerel. This is complemented by a medley of cracked black pepper and spices, with cinnamon, cloves, and ground coriander dancing harmoniously. As the initial flavours unfold, a delightful fruitiness emerges at the finish—juicy peach and ripe grapefruit create a refreshing contrast that lingers on the tongue.
Finish: The finish is long and smoky, leaving a mouthwatering sensation that invites another sip, perfectly balancing the savoury and sweet elements for a truly captivating experience.
