Macallan 12 Year Old 100 Proof Sherry Oak Cask

The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Year Old (110 Proof) is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 55% ABV, offering a higher-strength interpretation of the distillery's established Sherry Oak 12 Year Old expression. Part of The Macallan's Sherry Oak Collection, this release retains the traditional sherry cask maturation while presenting the whisky at a strength of 110 US proof.

Matured for 12 years exclusively in sherry seasoned oak casks at The Macallan Estate in Easter Elchies, Scotland, the whisky develops its character through prolonged interaction with oak. The sherry seasoned casks contribute rich dried fruit, warm spice and oak characteristics, which form the foundation of The Macallan's traditional Sherry Oak style.

Unlike the standard 12 Year Old expression, which is bottled at 40% ABV in the UK, the 110 Proof edition is presented at 55% ABV. This higher bottling strength provides a more concentrated expression of the whisky's established character, emphasising its rich fruit, oak and warming spice influences.

The Macallan 110 Proof maintains the same 12-year maturation period and exclusive use of sherry seasoned oak casks as the original expression. The distinction lies in its higher bottling strength, offering a different perspective on the distillery's traditional sherry cask matured single malt.

Tasting Notes by The Macallan:
Warm and evocative, this naturally amber-hued single malt scotch whisky opens with the indulgent aroma of sticky dates and gentle cinnamon spice, unfolding into layers of rich oak and a subtle warmth of stem ginger on the palate.
