Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask

Distilled at The Macallan Estate in Craigellachie on Speyside, one of Scotland's most celebrated whisky-producing regions, The Macallan has built its reputation over nearly two centuries on an unwavering commitment to exceptional oak cask maturation. The distillery's unique and patented Cask Tracking System follows every cask from cooperage to warehouse, ensuring complete chain of custody from the bodegas of Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain through to the Speyside warehouses where the spirit quietly matures. That precision and provenance is the foundation upon which every expression in the range is built.

The Double Cask 12 Year Old is matured for a minimum of twelve years in a combination of sherry seasoned American oak and sherry seasoned European oak casks, both prepared at The Macallan's own cooperages and bodegas in Jerez. The American oak contributes its characteristic sweetness and vanilla freshness, whilst the European oak brings the deeper dried fruit and soft spice notes more familiar from the classic Sherry Oak style. The result, as conceived by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, is a harmonious and approachable expression that sits between the two principal collections in The Macallan range. Bottled at natural colour with no added caramel, it presents beautifully and makes a highly regarded gift for any occasion.

Tasting Note by Macallan:
Nose: Creamy butterscotch with a hint of toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard and newly felled oak.
Palate: Deliciously honeyed, wood spices and citrus, balanced with raisins and caramel.
Finish: Oak lingers, warm, sweet and drying.
