Derived from maturing in smaller hogshead casks, Macallan Reflexion offers a truly unique character. The smaller casks allow for a higher surface area of wood to come into contact with the whisky, resulting in a nuanced flavor profile influenced by both Spanish and American oak casks.
Meticulously selected first-fill barrels play a crucial role in shaping the exceptional quality of Reflexion. Each barrel is carefully chosen to highlight the whisky's distinctive aromas and flavors, ensuring a depth of color and a rich, indulgent taste.
Tasting Note by Macallan:
Nose: Fresh zest of orange and citrus fruits. A slight waxy note fades to fresh green apples. Robust notes of chocolate, thick fudge, boiled sweets, aniseed and caramel toffees with subtle white chocolate truffles. Fresh bananas and sweet oak arrives last.
Palate: Initial light citrus zest with new oak gives way to the succulent sweetness of lemon and orange. Raisin, sultana and apple, with a hint of cinnamon and ginger, are subtle.
Finish: Boiled sweets add balance to a glimpse of toasted oak to give a medium and soft finish.
