Description

Founded in 2015 in the Liberties district of Dublin, Teeling Whiskey Company represents a revival of distilling in the Irish capital after a hiatus of over 125 years. The Wonders of Wood series is a limited edition collection that places cask influence at the centre of each release, exploring the contribution that less conventional wood types make to Irish single pot still whiskey. This third edition continues that exploration with a maturation entirely in virgin Swedish oak, a cask type rarely employed in Irish whiskey production.

The whiskey itself is crafted from a recipe of equal parts malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled in Teeling's copper pot stills in Dublin in the traditional single pot still style. Full maturation in virgin Swedish oak casks, rather than a finishing period, means the wood's influence is woven throughout the spirit rather than layered on at the final stage. Bottled at 50% ABV without chill filtration, this is a limited release of genuine character and a compelling addition to any collection of contemporary Irish whiskey.

This bottle comes with a complimentary Teeling Paddy Cap — a tweed flat cap embroidered with the official Teeling Whiskey logo. A ready-made St. Patrick's Day gift.

Tasting Note by Teeling:
Nose: Light floral notes with citrus fruits, hints of caramel and cooked barley.
Palate: Rich and full flavoured with herbs, candied ginger, almond and treacle.
Finish: Dry finish with light black pepper spice and nutmeg.

Teeling whiskey Swedish Oak finish

I bought this as I enjoy Teeling whiskey, the Pineapple Rum cask finish was a particular favourite, I saw this on the website with such a good discount I thought I have to try this. Not yet opened the bottle but already anticipating the taste.
