The 2nd Edition of Westland's barley-centric Colere single malt whiskey builds upon the success of its predecessor, the 1st Edition. This release maintains the distillery's commitment to exploring distinct barley varieties, specifically bred with a focus on flavor. For this limited edition, Westland selected Talisman, a 2-row winter barley variety with lineage tracing back to the renowned Marris Otter. The whiskey is matured in refill casks, allowing the intrinsic qualities of the barley to take center stage, resulting in a unique and character-driven expression.
Tasting Note by Westland:
Nose: Lemon curd, soft woody vanilla, raspberry coulis, and citrus peels
Palate: Orange marmalade, bittersweet dark chocolate, and forest fruits on the palate, with a sweetness reminiscent of brown sugar.
Finish: Orange chocolate lingers in the finish.
