Founded in 1892 by William Grant in Dufftown, at the heart of Speyside, The Balvenie is one of Scotland's most craft-focused distilleries, maintaining its own floor maltings, cooperage and coppersmith team on site. It is a place where traditional methods have been preserved not as a point of heritage but as a genuine commitment to quality, and that philosophy runs through every expression in the range. The distillery's Malt Master lineage is among the most celebrated in the industry, with David C. Stewart MBE spending over five decades shaping its character before passing the role to Kelsey McKechnie.
DoubleWood 12 was launched in 1993, built on a wood finishing technique pioneered by David C. Stewart in 1982 that has since become widely adopted across the industry. The whisky first matures in traditional whisky oak casks, which impart warming vanilla and gentle spice, before being transferred to European oak Sherry casks for a further period of maturation that adds fruity, honeyed depth and greater complexity. The whiskies are then married for three to four months in large oak tuns to allow full integration before bottling. A Global Wine and Spirit Winner in 2016, DoubleWood 12 is one of the most approachable and consistently praised expressions in the Speyside canon, and a reliable choice for gifting or as an introduction to The Balvenie range.

Produced at Glengoyne Distillery on the Highland-Lowland boundary since 1883, this 12 Year Old is built on two defining principles: Scotland's slowest distillation process and the exclusive use of unpeated, air-dried barley. Together they produce a characteristically clean, fruit-forward spirit entirely free of smoke, certified vegan and sustainably produced.
Matured for twelve years in hand-selected sherry casks, the whisky develops richness and depth whilst retaining the distillery's natural openness and approachability. It has earned Gold Medals at the New York International Spirits Challenge 2025, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024, and the International Spirits Challenge 2024, among a broader collection of international accolades.

Founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Spey and revived in 2012 by Ian Macleod Distillers, Tamdhu is built on a single founding principle: the exclusive maturation of every expression in Oloroso sherry oak casks sourced directly from the cooperages and bodegas of Jerez in Spain's sherry triangle. The 12 Year Old is the clearest expression of that commitment, matured in a combination of first-fill and refill American and European oak Oloroso sherry casks to produce a rich, silky and naturally coloured Speyside single malt.
Consistent international recognition has followed, with Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition across 2020, 2022 and 2025, Double Gold in 2021, and Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in both 2020 and 2021. Designed by the celebrated distillery architect Charles C. Doig and restored to its original vision over a century later, Tamdhu represents one of Speyside's most focused and decorated approaches to sherry cask maturation.
Tasting Note by Tamdhu:Nose: Rich and enticing, iced cinnamon rolls, orange boiled sweets, fresh sweet oak with raisins and the faint hint of mint.Palate: Silky texture that coats the mouth with banana, berry jam, malt biscuit and classic sherry oak depth.Finish: Pleasantly long and balanced with ground spice, dried fruit and soft Scottish tablet – finally unveiling the merest wisp of peat smoke.
Matured exclusively in hand-selected American oak ex-bourbon barrels, Tomintoul 10 Years Old is a delicately well-balanced single malt. This 10-year-old expression is a beloved favorite within the Tomintoul range and has earned prestigious gold medals for its exceptional taste in some of the world's most renowned spirits competitions.
Tasting Note by Tomintoul:Nose: Delicate and floral with aromas of acacia honey, vanilla, wholemeal toast and mellow wood spices. Palate: Sweet and honeyed with layers of creme caramel and toasted almond with highlights of lemon zest and a grassy freshness. Finish: Notes of buttery oak, citrus peels fading into a mellow cake spice linger.
