Tales of The Macallan Volume II pays tribute to Alexander Reid, the visionary founder of The Macallan. Released during the distillery's 200th anniversary, this edition highlights Reid's journey as a teacher, farmer, and distiller striving for mastery.
In 1824, Reid established The Macallan on Easter Elchies Estate, championing the use of small stills for richer flavor and character. His commitment to this principle shaped one of The Macallan's Six Pillars—Curiously Small Stills—a legacy reflected in the modern distillery.
As the second release in the prestigious Tales of The Macallan series, this edition narrates the defining moments and trailblazing decisions of The Macallan's history. Distilled in 1949 and bottled in 2022, this extraordinary whisky represents the pinnacle of maturation.
Presented in a hand-crafted Lalique crystal decanter, this rare 73 year old single malt is a testament to Reid's journey from teacher to pioneering distiller. Limited to just 344 bottles, the decanter is adorned with Andrew Davidson’s intricate illustrations, and the accompanying 800-page tome beautifully brings Reid's story to life through bespoke artwork.
