Laphroaig Select is a classic Islay single malt that laid the foundation for what would later become Select Oak. This earlier expression brings together Laphroaig’s signature medicinal peat smoke with a subtle touch of sweetness and spice, offering a more accessible style while retaining the bold character the distillery is known for.
Crafted from a blend of cask types—including Oloroso sherry butts, American white oak, and seasoned Bourbon barrels—Laphroaig Select balances smoky depth with notes of vanilla, orchard fruit, and a gentle floral edge. Though now superseded by Select Oak, this expression remains a noteworthy chapter in Laphroaig’s evolution—bridging tradition with a more contemporary approach to peated whisky.
Tasting Note by Laphroaig:Nose: Forward peat smoke followed quickly by ripe red fruits. Palate: Sweet at first, followed by peat smoke and dashes of ash and seaweed. Finish: Long finish with lingering floral notes. Touches of marzipan and lime.
Matured for three full decades, this rare Highland single malt from Balblair Distillery was distilled on 28 June 1993 and bottled on 18 April 2024 as part of Gordon & MacPhail’s esteemed Connoisseurs Choice range. Drawn from a single first-fill sherry puncheon (Cask #1963), this expression is bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.2% ABV, with no chill filtration or added colour.

Distilled on 23/07/13 and bottled in March 2025, this single cask release was finished in a red wine hogshead. Bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filtered and free from added colour. Initially matured in a combination of refill and hogshead casks, this Aberfeldy expression is finished in first-fill Sangiovese wine casks sourced from the Valdarno di Sopra region in Tuscany, Italy.
