Matured in a combination of ruby port casks and the distillery’s signature sherry casks, it delivers a harmonious balance of sweet floral nectar and ripe summer berries. Kilkerran Heavily Peated is a bold single malt crafted in small batches, released twice yearly at cask strength with around 45PPM of peat. Primarily matured in Bourbon casks, it offers a smoky profile of campfire embers and peat, balanced by notes of custard, key lime pie, rye bread, and a touch of minerality on the finish.
Tasting Note by Kilkerran:Nose: In typical Kilkerran style, there is a citrus element on the nose with notes of lemon and key lime pie, along with touches of toasted rye bread and peat smoke.Palate: There are notes of toasted marshmallows and campfire embers immediately on the palate, with hints of vanilla and custard.Finish: The smokiness carries through to the finish, along with a mineral note to round off this dram.
A rare small-batch release, this Glenmorangie single malt is the first from the distillery to be finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks. Aged for 12 years, it spent its first eight maturing in American white oak bourbon casks, giving it a smooth, mellow character. Inspired by the rare sweet and nutty notes of Palo Cortado, Dr Bill selected these scarce casks to add a new complexity to Glenmorangie’s refined style. The result is a whisky of unique depth, with layers of dark plum, milk chocolate, Brazil nuts, and sweet spice.
