The Double Cask 15 Year Old brings together sherry seasoned American oak and sherry seasoned European oak, matured for a minimum of fifteen years on The Macallan Estate. The American oak contributes its characteristic vanilla sweetness and lighter fruit notes, whilst the European oak adds the richer dried fruit complexity and soft spice more familiar from the classic Sherry Oak style. As Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell notes, the collection increases in complexity with age, and at fifteen years the Double Cask delivers a noticeably deeper and more layered character than its twelve year old counterpart.
