This unique expression underwent a two-stage maturation process, beginning in refill American oak casks and then concluding with a fascinating finish in Cognac casks, culminating in a 19-year-old bottling. Cognac casks are known for their potent influence on flavor, sometimes overpowering, but Glendullan has masterfully struck a balance here. Instead of dominating the profile, the Cognac finishing delicately seasons the whisky, enhancing its character in a truly delectable manner.
Tasting Note by Singleton:Nose: Mild in feel, the nose shines with top notes of dried fruits suggesting dried figs and apricots or crystalised angelica and orange peel, while beneath this there is the dry scent of a light fruitcake, iced with spirited notes of vanilla-scented marzipan.
