The "CONTRASTS: AIR DRIED OAK" is a limited-edition release with a 46% alcohol content, matured uniquely in air-dried Virgin American Oak casks, lending it a distinctive character.
Tasting Note by Benromach:Sweet vanilla fudge aromas with toasted cereal and citrus blossom. Smooth yet peppery notes follow, with vanilla, fresh peppermint and oak flavours. Subtle smoke lingers on the finish.
The distillate's "heart of the heart," or the spirit cut with the highest phenol content, is used to create "The Turbo," which has an intensified smoky personality. The whisky uses mainland peat and has a long fermentation time, giving it a full-bodied taste. The 2023 Release is a blend of five Oloroso hogsheads and three American virgin oak casks. The end product is a complex whisky that packs a significant 71 PPM of peat.
Tasting Note by Meikle Toir:Nose: Manuka honey, worn leather and rich chocolate, with hints of toasted hazelnuts, dried sultanas and burnt orange peel.Palate: Intense peat, heather honey and mocha, followed by smoked spices, roasted chestnuts and charred oak.
