Originally set aside to become a 12 year old single barrel, this whisky was found to have developed a subtle smoky flavour upon tasting, due to being distilled immediately after peat week, even though the barley used was unpeated. It matured for 14 years in some of Balvenie's finest bourbon casks.

Strathearn Batch 02 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the second release from Strathearn Distillery. It combines spirit matured in ex-Bourbon, Virgin Oak, and ex-Sherry oak casks, with a greater influence from Bourbon casks and less from Virgin Oak compared to the previous release.
Batch 02 is created from a vatting of 31 selected casks, including stock inherited by and produced under Douglas Laing's ownership. Bottled at 50% ABV, the whisky is free from added colouring and chill-filtration.

The BenRiach Malting Season 2 celebrates the distillery's restored traditional malting floor, using hand-malted Concerto barley distilled in autumn 2013 and matured in first-fill bourbon casks until it was bottled in 2022 at 48.9% ABV. This process preserves the pure flavour of the raw ingredient, showcasing a whisky crafted entirely from barley malted in-house at BenRiach.

Maker’s Mark 46 was the first major new release from the distillery since the original Maker’s Mark in 1958. Created by Bill Samuels Jr., it is crafted using fully matured Maker’s Mark bourbon that undergoes an innovative finishing process with ten seared French oak staves. These staves are fitted into the barrel and matured further in the distillery’s limestone cellar, adding new layers of flavour and complexity.
The name “46” comes from the Independent Stave Company’s designation for the specific French oak stave profile used in its creation. The result is a bourbon that remains approachable yet delivers deeper character, balancing sweetness with spice.

They set out to demonstrate that exceptional whisky can not only originate from Texas but also lead its category. Using culinary-grade ingredients and processes shaped by Texas itself, their approach involves some of the world's tallest Forsyth copper pot stills to produce a rich, viscous bourbon. The long fermentations take advantage of local microflora to enhance fruity aromas, while Texas's dramatic climate and customised casks contribute to a complex flavour profile. Bere barley, acknowledged as Britain's oldest cultivated cereal strain, would have been utilized by Scotland's early distillers over many centuries. Nevertheless, in the 20th century, there was a shift towards prioritizing yield and commercial viability, leading to the selection of varieties that offered easier cultivation and higher extract, favoring efficiency over flavor.
In their commitment to championing flavor, the distillery has been working closely with the University of the Highlands and Islands' Agronomy Institute since 2005 to reintroduce Bere barley into the production of single malt whisky. However, the importance of this barley extends beyond whisky production, as it holds significant potential for the future of food production.
Sown in April and harvested in September, the 2011 growing season primarily witnessed warm and dry conditions, except during the crucial harvest period when rainfall became more frequent. Maturing patiently for over a decade in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, the understated maturation of the 2012 vintage carefully balances an indulgent texture with the presence of malty, sweet fruit notes.
Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: Complex and alluring, there is a wonderful combination of fruity and floral notes on the nose. Oak comes through with zesty lime and green apple, followed by fragrant honeysuckle and creamy vanilla. The Bere barley provides a tart robustness with hints of hay and barley sugar sweetness, with a peach note growing as the dram opens further.Palate: Firm and well rounded, Bere barley and stoned fruit glide across the palate bringing waves of apricot, ripe peach and stewed apple. Chocolate lime hints at the zesty richness of the spirit before barley sugar and warm scones bring a remarkable depth of flavour from the malt. Marine notes of sun kissed sand and sea shells follow, moving to marzipan, mellow oak and coconut.Finish: Long and delicate, the finish has notes of gingerbread, milk chocolate, marzipan, creamy vanilla and apricot jam.
