  • Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoked (2022 Release) - JPHA Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoked (2022 Release) - JPHA

Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoked (2022 Release)

The Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoked is a celebration of the ever-evolving flavors derived from our barley, spirit, and casks. Peat has played a significant role in our distilling heritage, with historical records indicating that The Glenturret once sourced peat from the nearby mosses for whisky production in the early 1800s. This expression pays homage to the various sources of peat we now use for our smoky whiskies. The character of the smoke flavors is in a constant state of transformation over time. Our peated spirit undergoes maturation in both first-fill and second-fill European and American oak casks. The resulting whisky is a complex single malt with a robust ABV of 50%. Tasting Note by Glenturret:SWEET VANILLA, FRESH CITRUS FRUITS. Remnants of CAMPFIRE SMOKE, understated peat. SUBTLE SWEETNESS and LEMON SHERBET. Dying embers return, softly glowing and SMOKY.

  • Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013 - JPHA Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013 - JPHA

    Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013

The Port Charlotte Islay Barley expressions truly encapsulate the essence of what an Islay whisky represents. From conception to bottling, every step occurs on the island, using barley cultivated locally by seven dedicated farming partners. These expressions are the epitome of genuine Islay whisky, celebrating the deep connection between the spirit and its homeland. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: The nose opens with delicate floral notes of lily and geranium before warm orange zest and dried earthy peat smoke brings body and gravity. Banoffee pie and digestive biscuit come out from behind the peat smoke and carry forward this dram’s malty, fruity character. Cherry coconut and malted barley jostle with apricot and melon. The nose is so enticing; the sweetness of the oak and the outstanding rubbery, peppery phenolic notes are balanced perfectly with the fruit and floral style of our slow, careful fermentation and distillation.Palate: The first taste is a wondrous thing; all at once, the salinity, the fruit, the light peat smoke, and the sweet oak show their presence in a whirl of complexity and entice you in to go again. There is great texture from the spirit, and its time resting in carefully selected oak allows a subtle almond note to combine with coconut, caramel, vanilla, and muscovado sugar. The peat smoke in this whisky is as beautifully balanced as ever, weaving through the components, highlighting them but not dominating. A dram that is gentle on the palate yet has a tremendous depth of flavour.Finish: The finish again shows the balance we are looking for. The smoke, fruit, oak and floral notes melt into each other, and a beautiful creamy texture allows melon, peach and cherry to come through before dwindling into the dry embers of peat in the hearth.

  • Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013 - JPHA Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013 - JPHA

    Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013

For nearly two decades, they have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment to sourcing barley locally. This release, the Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013, marks the eighth edition of their unpeated single malt whisky crafted from barley grown in the vicinity. Although each expression from individual growing seasons possesses subtle distinctions, a distinctive profile has emerged over time, characterized by a blend of maritime and citrus notes, with barley at the forefront, within these intricate single malts. The latest vintage of unpeated Bruichladdich Islay Barley showcases barley harvested during the 2012 growing season, which was subsequently distilled in 2013. This barley crop was cultivated across seven different farms on the island, managed by dedicated farmers: Hunter Jackson at Cruach, Andrew and Donald Jones at Coull, Mark French at Rockside, Ian McKerrell at Island, Alistair Torrance at Mulindry, Raymond Fletcher at Dunlossit, and Raymond Stewart at Sunderland. The resulting spirit underwent maturation in a combination of ex-American and ex-European oak casks, aging gracefully over a span of eight years. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: This is stunning on the nose. The freshness and purity of the spirit is striking. A kaleidoscope of vibrant aromas pour from the glass, first, citrus and honey notes emerge before stoned fruit, dried apricot, and the perfume of ripe peaches. Sweet notes of marzipan, yellow flowers, vanilla pods, and then zephyrs of spice, cereal, and marine breeze. With time oak notes elevates as the vanilla. Crème-Brulee, caramel and wood spices come to the fore. Then gentle hints of cinnamon and ginger cake and syrup add the anticipation of tasting.Palate: The oak cradles the soft fruit of distillation with a perfect balance and harmony. The delicate sweetness and luscious texture are like velvet on the palate. The balance of those sweet ripe stoned fruit flavours with the vanilla, caramel and brown sugar notes of the oak is perfect, this vintage of Islay barley is bottled at just the right moment to capture the DNA of our island and the whisky we distil on its shores. Add a touch of water and watch as the natural oils react in the glass releasing wonderful floral notes of hawthorn and heather to add to the complexity and depth of this remarkable Ileach.Finish: The finish is a testament to the quality of distillation. As the expression of that marine tang with the sweet citrus and honeyed oaked notes tells the story of our whisky and where it comes from. Natural whisky with no chill filtration means you will experience as long and gentle a finish as you ever thought possible.

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Gift Pack

The foundation for the Classic Laddie is not a fixed recipe, but rather a distilling philosophy. They don't pursue exact uniformity; instead, each year, the type and origin of their barley influence their spirit. Moreover, they continuously acquire a diverse range of casks to enrich the assortment of flavors in their warehouse. Instead of aiming for strict consistency, every batch of the Classic Laddie is naturally distinct and varies subtly. Producing the Classic Laddie is among the most intricate and demanding tasks entrusted to their Head Distiller, Adam Hannett. He personally selects an assembly of the finest spirits to achieve the signature fruity and floral Bruichladdich house style. Crafting each distinct recipe is an intensive procedure. Adam has to meticulously assess every spirit based on its aroma, taste, and texture. This process is time-consuming and challenging, necessitating a sharp focus and multiple checks, pauses, and reassessments over several weeks. The ultimate composition is determined in the solitude of his tasting room. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: The bouquet is brilliant.
