  • Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013 - JPHA Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013 - JPHA

    Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013

The Port Charlotte Islay Barley expressions truly encapsulate the essence of what an Islay whisky represents. From conception to bottling, every step occurs on the island, using barley cultivated locally by seven dedicated farming partners. These expressions are the epitome of genuine Islay whisky, celebrating the deep connection between the spirit and its homeland. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: The nose opens with delicate floral notes of lily and geranium before warm orange zest and dried earthy peat smoke brings body and gravity. Banoffee pie and digestive biscuit come out from behind the peat smoke and carry forward this dram’s malty, fruity character. Cherry coconut and malted barley jostle with apricot and melon. The nose is so enticing; the sweetness of the oak and the outstanding rubbery, peppery phenolic notes are balanced perfectly with the fruit and floral style of our slow, careful fermentation and distillation.Palate: The first taste is a wondrous thing; all at once, the salinity, the fruit, the light peat smoke, and the sweet oak show their presence in a whirl of complexity and entice you in to go again. There is great texture from the spirit, and its time resting in carefully selected oak allows a subtle almond note to combine with coconut, caramel, vanilla, and muscovado sugar. The peat smoke in this whisky is as beautifully balanced as ever, weaving through the components, highlighting them but not dominating. A dram that is gentle on the palate yet has a tremendous depth of flavour.Finish: The finish again shows the balance we are looking for. The smoke, fruit, oak and floral notes melt into each other, and a beautiful creamy texture allows melon, peach and cherry to come through before dwindling into the dry embers of peat in the hearth.

    Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013

For nearly two decades, they have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment to sourcing barley locally. This release, the Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013, marks the eighth edition of their unpeated single malt whisky crafted from barley grown in the vicinity. The latest vintage of unpeated Bruichladdich Islay Barley showcases barley harvested during the 2012 growing season, which was subsequently distilled in 2013. The resulting spirit underwent maturation in a combination of ex-American and ex-European oak casks, aging gracefully over a span of eight years. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: This is stunning on the nose. The freshness and purity of the spirit is striking. A kaleidoscope of vibrant aromas pour from the glass, first, citrus and honey notes emerge before stoned fruit, dried apricot, and the perfume of ripe peaches. Sweet notes of marzipan, yellow flowers, vanilla pods, and then zephyrs of spice, cereal, and marine breeze. With time oak notes elevates as the vanilla. Crème-Brulee, caramel and wood spices come to the fore. Then gentle hints of cinnamon and ginger cake and syrup add the anticipation of tasting.Palate: The oak cradles the soft fruit of distillation with a perfect balance and harmony. The delicate sweetness and luscious texture are like velvet on the palate. The balance of those sweet ripe stoned fruit flavours with the vanilla, caramel and brown sugar notes of the oak is perfect, this vintage of Islay barley is bottled at just the right moment to capture the DNA of our island and the whisky we distil on its shores. Add a touch of water and watch as the natural oils react in the glass releasing wonderful floral notes of hawthorn and heather to add to the complexity and depth of this remarkable Ileach.Finish: The finish is a testament to the quality of distillation. As the expression of that marine tang with the sweet citrus and honeyed oaked notes tells the story of our whisky and where it comes from. Natural whisky with no chill filtration means you will experience as long and gentle a finish as you ever thought possible.

Balvenie 12 Year Old Sweet Toast Of American Oak

Inspired by the desire to create a fruitier and sweeter iteration of Balvenie, Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie embarked on a novel experiment. She introduced Virgin Oak barrels from Kentucky and subjected them to a deep toasting process at The Balvenie Cooperage. These barrels were then filled with Balvenie whisky previously aged in ex-bourbon barrels. The outcome is a remarkably intricate whisky brimming with notes of candied fruit, coconut, and delicate vanilla. The Balvenie Distillery is built upon the narratives passed down through generations of craftsmen to their successors. The Balvenie Stories range, featuring three distinct whiskies, serves as a testament to these tales of character, dedication, and artistry. Each whisky crafted by The Balvenie encapsulates a human story, evolving alongside its protagonists and unfolding unforeseen dimensions over years of maturation. It's a celebration of the enduring craft and tradition that defines The Balvenie. • Sale -21%Best Seller Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera

    Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera

Established in 1887 by William Grant in Dufftown, Speyside, Glenfiddich has always been defined by a willingness to innovate within a tradition of uncompromising quality. The distillery remains family-owned across five generations, and it is that independence of spirit that has allowed it to pursue techniques rarely seen elsewhere in Scotch whisky production. The Solera Fifteen is perhaps the most distinctive expression of that curiosity, built around a process more commonly associated with the production of fine Sherry and Madeira than with single malt whisky. At the heart of the 15 Year Old is a Solera Vat that has never been fully emptied since it was first filled in 1998. Kept perpetually at least half full, the vat brings together whiskies matured in three distinct cask types including new oak, American oak and Sherry oak, which marry continuously over time to create a whisky of layered complexity and remarkable consistency. As each portion is drawn off for bottling, it carries with it the accumulated character of every whisky that has rested in the vat before it, producing a depth of flavour that belies the 15 Year Old age statement. A genuinely distinctive bottle for a collection and an assured gift for anyone with an appreciation for craft and curiosity in equal measure. Tasting Note by Glenfiddich:Nose: An intriguingly complex aroma. Sweet heather honey and vanilla fudge combined with rich dark fruits.Palate: Silky smooth, revealing layers of sherry oak, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger. Full-bodied and bursting with flavour.Finish: Satisfyingly rich with lingering sweetness.

  • Balvenie 17 Year Old DoubleWood - JPHA Balvenie 17 Year Old DoubleWood - JPHA

    Balvenie 17 Year Old DoubleWood

In the creation of The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old single malt whisky, the esteemed Malt Master, David C. Stewart MBE, revisited one of his most lauded accomplishments—a process known as 'cask finishing,' where the whisky undergoes consecutive maturation in two distinct types of casks. This very technique lies at the core of The Balvenie DoubleWood's character. It begins its maturation journey in American oak barrels, which infuse the spirit with gentle, sweet vanilla notes. Subsequently, the whisky is transferred to European oak sherry casks, where the second phase of aging imparts rich, spicy flavors, along with a profound depth and fullness of character. The DoubleWood 17 Year Old stands as the elder sibling to the DoubleWood 12 Year Old sharing its signature honeyed, spicy attributes. However, it possesses a distinctive identity, marked by deeper vanilla tones, subtle hints of green apple, velvety toffee, and an astonishing richness and complexity that set it apart. Tasting Note by Balvenie:Nose: Elegant and complex oak, vanilla, honeyed sweetness and a hint of green apple.Palate: Sweet with dried fruits, sherbet spice, toasted almonds and cinnamon, layered with a richness of creamy toffee notes and traces of oak and deep vanilla.Finish: Vanilla oak, honey and spicy sweetness.

Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask

Distilled at The Macallan Estate in Craigellachie on Speyside, one of Scotland's most celebrated whisky-producing regions, The Macallan has built its reputation over nearly two centuries on an unwavering commitment to exceptional oak cask maturation. The distillery's unique and patented Cask Tracking System follows every cask from cooperage to warehouse, ensuring complete chain of custody from the bodegas of Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain through to the Speyside warehouses where the spirit quietly matures. That precision and provenance is the foundation upon which every expression in the range is built. The Double Cask 12 Year Old is matured for a minimum of twelve years in a combination of sherry seasoned American oak and sherry seasoned European oak casks, both prepared at The Macallan's own cooperages and bodegas in Jerez. The American oak contributes its characteristic sweetness and vanilla freshness, whilst the European oak brings the deeper dried fruit and soft spice notes more familiar from the classic Sherry Oak style. The result, as conceived by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, is a harmonious and approachable expression that sits between the two principal collections in The Macallan range. Bottled at natural colour with no added caramel, it presents beautifully and makes a highly regarded gift for any occasion.
