Tasting Note by Westland:Nose: Smouldering moss, flamed orange peel, and a background of nuttiness are the first notes in the nose.Palate: Peat erupts from the palate, expressing flavours of roasted pistachios, iodine, and campfire. The smouldering moss on the nose gradually transforms into burning embers and roasted plantains. As time passes, the palate also changes, moving towards more pronounced earth notes, green herbs, and increasing iodine towards the finish.
The 2024 edition of Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength remains a firm favourite, boasting a composition of 70% whisky aged in bourbon barrels and 30% in sherry casks. This batch reveals a robust and untamed character, typical of Springbank. It presents a rich tapestry of flavours, including sherried prunes, almonds, and brown sugar, accented by lighter notes of vanilla and apples, all woven together with the distillery's characteristic industrial smokiness. This finely aged 30 year old whisky, Mortlach Midnight Malt, boasts an unexpected richness and enhanced flavour profile, achieved through a distinctive three cask finish. The casks used - Bordeaux wine, Calvados, and Guatemalan rum - lend it bold provenance and a layered complexity. Released in extremely limited batches, only 350 bottles of Mortlach Midnight Malt are available each year, making it a rare and coveted addition to any whisky collection.
Tasting Note by Mortlach:Nose: A mellow nose with some initial prickle. This settles in time to reveal a savoury and faintly herbal top note, suggesting pork crackling sprinkled with dry sage. Beneath lies a deeper, more vinous note with intriguing and rich notes of dark rum, toffee brittle and drying traces of chocolate.Palate: A richly winey, apple fruity and mouth-watering start delights the palate, backed by a long spicy intensity with a delicious black pepper note that really persists.Finish: Long, sweet, and deep-flavoured with a light peppery spiciness. With water, still sweet and softer, with the spicy heat joined by a suggestions of mint chocolate in the lingering aftertaste.
Reposados and Añejos are meticulously tasted until the finest casks that distinguish this Cristalino as unique are identified. This chosen assortment of Añejos and Reposados will be removed from the casks where they gained their character and maturity, to undergo a third distillation. This process finely tunes their flavors and aromas in a most imaginative manner, ensuring their identity is preserved with attention to every detail.
Tasting Note by Tierra Noble:Palate: Strong character with sweet and frutal notes of green apple, a discreet presence of cooked agave and a light chocolate sparkle.Finish: Well balanced with citric notes, spices like colve, frutal with a vanilla-butter finish. Silky, smooth and lof long permanence in the palate whit fresh notes in the aftertaste combined with the tertiary notes of wood.
This release is the second in a distinguished five-part sherry series from the distillery. Distilled in July 2013, it underwent a unique maturation process. Initially, it spent six years in refill bourbon barrels, followed by a further four years in freshly made Palo Cortado hogsheads crafted from American oak. In September 2023, this meticulously aged whisky was bottled, yielding a limited run of just 10,200 bottles.
The distillate's "heart of the heart," or the spirit cut with the highest phenol content, is used to create "The Turbo," which has an intensified smoky personality. The whisky uses mainland peat and has a long fermentation time, giving it a full-bodied taste. The 2023 Release is a blend of five Oloroso hogsheads and three American virgin oak casks. The end product is a complex whisky that packs a significant 71 PPM of peat.

This highly coveted single malt is a product of Campbeltown's Glengyle distillery, representing the cask strength expression of Kilkerran single malt. With a robust 57.5% ABV, this whisky delivers a rich tapestry of flavors, including prominent sherry and smoky notes. This is an exclusive yearly offering of cask strength Kilkerran single malt, hailing from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. For this particular release, the whisky underwent an eight-year maturation period in a bourbon cask. It has been bottled at a robust 55.8% ABV, with no added colorants or chill filtration, preserving its natural qualities and bold character.
Tasting Note by Kilkerran: Nose: This dram begins with a floral note that is reminiscent of elderflower and heather. There are hints of custard cream, vanilla, and a sweet note resembling foam bananas.Palate: There are first flavours of cocoa nibs and Iberico ham along with a smoky, earthy peat influence.
