The Stauning Dirty Bastard whisky is a distinctive blend of locally sourced rye and barley, double distilled in pot stills and matured in American oak barrels for 3-4 years. Maker’s Mark 46 was the first major new release from the distillery since the original Maker’s Mark in 1958. Created by Bill Samuels Jr., it is crafted using fully matured Maker’s Mark bourbon that undergoes an innovative finishing process with ten seared French oak staves. These staves are fitted into the barrel and matured further in the distillery’s limestone cellar, adding new layers of flavour and complexity.
The name “46” comes from the Independent Stave Company’s designation for the specific French oak stave profile used in its creation. The result is a bourbon that remains approachable yet delivers deeper character, balancing sweetness with spice.
