The Stauning Dirty Bastard whisky is a distinctive blend of locally sourced rye and barley, double distilled in pot stills and matured in American oak barrels for 3-4 years. It undergoes a second maturation in mezcal casks and a third in Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout casks. The whisky is bottled without chill-filtering, preserving its natural color. This limited release is part of the Research Series and features artwork of the Xoloitzcuintle dog, created by Danish tattoo artist Thit Hansgaard. The single malt selected for this special release was distilled in 2006 and initially matured in exceptional ex-bourbon American oak casks stored in Glencadam's historic dunnage warehouses. Afterward, the single malt was expertly blended and further matured in Pedro Ximénez Sherry quarter casks from Andalucía, Spain, which added distinct flavours, enriching the complexity of the Glencadam Single Malt. Bottled at a robust 46% alc/vol, maintaining its natural colour and avoiding chill filtration, this limited release consists of only 4,188 bottles, each bearing its individual number.
Tasting Note by Glencadam:Nose: Indulgent aromas of sticky toffee pudding, black cherries, salted caramel and maple syrup mingled with dark berry fruits and cocoa powder.Palate: Rich layers of Black Forest gateaux, blackcurrant liquorice, cappuccino and crème caramel married with dates, prunes and sweet spices.Finish: Chocolate cherry liqueurs, frangipane tarts and golden raisins fading into espresso coffee and cosy cake spices.
The 12 Year Old Aberfeldy is a delightful spirit, presenting a sweet honey touch intermingled with notes of fruit, spices, ample vanilla, and a faint wisp of smoke. Its intricate flavor profile results from maturing in a diverse assortment of Sherry, Bourbon, re-fill, and re-char casks. An interesting aspect of its aging process is the 'Angels' Share', which refers to the portion of whisky that vanishes during its time in oak casks, with nearly one-third of the Aberfeldy 12 Year Old being lost before bottling. This exceptional whisky, known as the Golden Dram, has received global recognition, clinching over 150 Gold Medals from leading spirit competitions.
